ARBEIT: SICHER + GESUND Safe and Healthy Work in a Changing Climate
Climate change is already having a significant impact on workers’ health and safety. To ensure safe and healthy working conditions in times of multiple crises, proactive measures are needed to protect employees and to promote more sustainable business practices.
In the first project year, four thematic workshops focused on heat and UV exposure, extreme weather events, awareness and compliance, and hazardous substances and vectors. Together with an expert group of stakeholders from occupational safety and health, key challenges were identified and possible solutions developed.
In the second project year, a pilot phase will be carried out in which selected solutions will be implemented in five pilot companies. The project consortium will accompany and support this process.
Project goals
The project aims to raise awareness among companies and employees about the risks posed by climate change and to develop a framework for climate-resilient and healthy work.
Methodology
The CPHP leads the project consortium. In this role, CPHP co-designed the workshop series in close cooperation with BMAS and developed the concept for the pilot phase, which will be implemented jointly with the project partners in the second year.
Examples of good company practices — four businesses taking action
Throughout the workshop process, the link to practical implementation was a central focus. A short film showcased four examples of good company practice from different sectors, highlighting diverse challenges and inspiring solutions: The Hamburg Port Authority, BG Klinikum Unfallkrankenhaus Berlin, Berlin Recycling GmbH, and Siemens AG demonstrated how companies and employees can take proactive steps and jointly develop and implement effective measures.
