As the world rea­li­zes its inter­con­nec­ted­ness with the envi­ron­ment and our pla­net, exper­ti­se on the inter­faces bet­ween humans, ani­mals and the envi­ron­ment in which they live beco­mes nee­ded and more valuable. 

With its Sec­tor Initia­ti­ve One Health, Ger­man Deve­lo­p­ment Coope­ra­ti­on (GIZ) addres­ses the­se topics with cho­sen experts to give evi­dence-based advice to the BMZ, espe­ci­al­ly for spe­ci­fic requests such as finan­cing mecha­nisms and the pan­de­mic accord as well as cli­ma­te chan­ge and health.

Pro­ject goals

The main objec­ti­ve is to give evi­dence based advi­se to the Fede­ral Minis­try for Eco­no­mic Coope­ra­ti­on and Deve­lo­p­ment (BMZ) on the topics of health, finan­cing and glo­bal health gover­nan­ce with a One Health and/or Pla­ne­ta­ry Health approach in mind and the­re­wi­th sup­port the sec­tor initia­ti­ve One Health in its advi­so­ry acti­vi­ties.

Metho­do­lo­gy

The CPHP leads a con­sor­ti­um of experts that pro­vi­des on request infor­ma­ti­on, ana­ly­sis and stra­te­gic advi­se on the fol­lo­wing topics: 

• glo­bal health gover­nan­ce struc­tu­re, inclu­ding decis­i­on making in the com­ple­xi­ty of exis­ting glo­bal health actors and finan­cing struc­tures.
• glo­bal health finan­cing, inclu­ding poten­ti­al finan­cing gabs in the cur­rent pan­de­mic pre­ven­ti­on, pre­pared­ness, and respon­se land­scape or glo­bal fun­ding and finan­cing aspects in the inter­sec­tion of cli­ma­te chan­ge and health.
• cross-sec­to­ral health approa­ches like One Health (OH), Pla­ne­ta­ry Health and Health in All Poli­ci­es, inclu­ding their future role in poli­cy making and their impact on cli­ma­te chan­ge and health-rela­ted ques­ti­ons.
