Experts on financing and global governance with emphasis on pandemic prevention, preparedness and response & climate change and health
As the world realizes its interconnectedness with the environment and our planet, expertise on the interfaces between humans, animals and the environment in which they live becomes needed and more valuable.
With its Sector Initiative One Health, German Development Cooperation (GIZ) addresses these topics with chosen experts to give evidence-based advice to the BMZ, especially for specific requests such as financing mechanisms and the pandemic accord as well as climate change and health.
Project goals
The main objective is to give evidence based advise to the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) on the topics of health, financing and global health governance with a One Health and/or Planetary Health approach in mind and therewith support the sector initiative One Health in its advisory activities.
Methodology
The CPHP leads a consortium of experts that provides on request information, analysis and strategic advise on the following topics:
- global health governance structure, including decision making in the complexity of existing global health actors and financing structures.
- global health financing, including potential financing gabs in the current pandemic prevention, preparedness, and response landscape or global funding and financing aspects in the intersection of climate change and health.
- cross-sectoral health approaches like One Health (OH), Planetary Health and Health in All Policies, including their future role in policy making and their impact on climate change and health-related questions.
