    Profile

    Franziska Matthies-Wiesler is a research associate at the Centre for Planetary Health Policy (CPHP) in Berlin and works on health-related heat protection and for the Lancet Countdown on Health and Climate Change Policy Brief for Germany. She also conducts research at the Institute of Epidemiology at Helmholtz Zentrum München on environment and health (primarily on issues of climate change adaptation and extreme weather events) and on agenda-setting in research. Prior to joining CPHP, she worked freelance in teaching, research, and policy consulting on environment and health, health in the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and on linking global environmental change to health and on the change to sustainability. Previously, she gained diverse experience in climate change and health through her work for the WHO Regional Office for Europe, WBGU, and the Tyndal Centre for Climate Change Research. Her PhD thesis focused on medicinal plants for the treatment of malaria in Tanzania.
